The class that loves to learn

Monthly Archives: June 2014

What a great week we have had in RIH.  We met lots of interesting sea creatures in the story ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ and really enjoyed making up stories with these aquatic friends. We made a wonderful movie as a class which you can see on the blog.

Next week we will be going on another sea adventure with ‘Deep Sea Doctor Dean’, I wonder what creatures he will be helping? In Numeracy we will be counting objects that cannot be moved.

Please be advised that on Monday and Tuesday we will not be having open mornings due to new Reception children coming to visit the classrooms. Please make sure you are in school by nine o’clock as we need to vacate the classrooms promptly.

Have a fantastic weekend my little superstars!

Mr Herlihy

We have been working on this film for the past few days. Check out all our hard work

Ever since we saw the film Frozen in the cinema the children have been crazy about this song. Enjoy!

Check out the great video.

We were very lucky with the weather this year. Fun was had by all. Check out the great pictures. If you have any please email me and we’ll put them on the blog.

The children have been enjoying playing in the new role play area. They have been moving like fishes. Check out the video.

Just a reminder that it is Rosendale Sports Day on Friday 20 June at the Rosendale Road Sports Field.

The Key Stage 1 Sports Day (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) will commence at 10am and finish around 11.30am.

The Key Stage 2 races will commence at 1pm and finish at 2.45pm.

All children will be at the playing fields by 12noon for a picnic lunch. Children who have school lunches or are entitled to free school meals will have a picnic lunch provided by Harrisons. Parents and carers are welcome to join the children for lunch, please bring your own picnic.

Please can you ensure that children bring with them a sunhat, sun cream and plenty of water. KS1 children should come into school dressed in their PE kits, KS2 children can come dressed in their kit though they will have an opportunity to get changed.

Parents are welcome to take their children (KS1) after lunch, or at the conclusion of events at 2.45pm. Please ensure you sign out your child with their class teacher.

Thank you.

Here are some more videos about pirates.

Can you find any numbers between 1 and 20 at home. Take a picture and send it in. I wonder if we can find all the numbers between us.

Ahoy me pirate crew, we have done some amazing learning this week. We have been learning about pirates. We looked at different pirate books. The children know some super facts. In numeracy we looked at distance. The children made paper planes and measured how far they travelled.

Next week we will continue to look at pirates. In numeracy we will be looking at numbers. We will be ordering and finding one more and one less than a given number.

I will not be in class on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as I am on a course.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
